Quantum's Medical Interpreter Training

Quantum’s Medical Interpreter Training (QMIT) is a 60-hour comprehensive training that prepares multilingual individuals for a career in medical interpreting. The training is suitable for those interested in becoming interpreters to interpreters seeking training in the medical field. The course fulfills the minimum training requirement for those looking to be nationally certified as a medical interpreter as well meets the requirements to interpret at many healthcare facilities in the tri-state region.

QMIT covers the skill of interpreting, ethics, medical terminology, and professionally navigating the field of medical interpretation. Upon passing of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion.


The tuition fee for the course is $700. Included in the fee is the course textbook, a book of medical terminology in your target language if available, and breakfast on each day of the course.

Proficiency in both English and your target language must be proved in order to register for QMIT. This can be done in two ways:
English:   Target Language:
1. High School Diploma taught in the target language
  1. 48 credits of university education taught in the target language
2. Passing Results of an Approved Language Exam (i.e TOEFL, IETLS)   2. Passing Results of an Approved Language Exam (we recommend CST by Language STAT)
If you have not met the requirements for either of these languages, we also accept the Hybrid Interpreter-Screening offered by Language STAT. This fulfills the requirement for the English and target language proficiency. The fee for this test ranges between $120 to $200 depending on the language.
